Model Reproductive Health Center (MRHC) Pankha Road
( Nov 1998 – Oct 2004)
Model Reproductive Health Center was an extension and expansion of the one year pilot project run in the Cantonment Board General Hospital. It was developed as a national model of comprehensive reproductive health programme, under the category of 'Best Practices' . The project was initially funded by NACO and later handed over to DSACS as a unique TI project.

Location :- Sagarpur and Kirby place slum in West Delhi.

  Strategies Employed
  • Extensive outs reach programs & Behavior Change Communications in the community to create general awareness on STDs/HIV/AIDS/Reproductive & Sexual Health issues aimed at sustained behavior change.
  • Clinic based reproductive & sexual health services including screening (through lab investigations) and treatment of STDs, to female as well as male clientele.
  • Partner notification, treatment & counseling.
  • Counseling on reproductive & sexual health issues to female as well as male clientele
  • Voluntary Counseling and Testing for HIV antibodies and providing care and support to those found positive.
  • Capacity building through training the various peer groups, NGOs, Gos, CBOs and volunteers.
  • Net working with Community leaders, NGOs, CBOs, Govt. health care providers
  • Empowering youth & women through forming youth & women's clubs and various women empowerment programmes.
  • Involving Hidden sex workers of the community in women empowerment programmes
  • Providing care to HIV positive patients as far as possible.
