TI for Female Sex Workers :-

Targeted Intervention programme for
Female Sex Workers
Sultanpuri, New Delhi

 In collaboration with Delhi State AIDS Control society.

The project covers around 1000 home based and brothel based sex workers of Sulatnpuri, most of them belonging to the traditional SIKLY COMMUNITIES.

Primary Goal :

To minimize the spread of STIs by 10 % amongst 1000 Community based Female Sex Workers of Sultanpuri in New Delhi in three years.

Objectives :

  • Increase effectiveness and efficiency of the Project implementing unit to persuade quality Service in the community.
  • Provide Behaviour Change Commuication through disseminating the appropriate information to increase STD/HIV/AIDS knowledge from existing 30% to 90% within three years among the FSWs and stake holders of the community.
  • Provide STD treatment to at least 1500 (500 p.a.)In three Years to reduce Sexually Transmitted illnesses amongst the target community.
  • Create an environment supportive for  Service delivery and community  development
  • Promote consistent and correct use of condoms among the target community through various channels
  • Provide care and support to people  living with HIV/AIDS within the area
  • Ensure sustainability of the program  by creating Capacity Building of the  target population by organizing Skill Building Trainings workshops and create opportunities for Alternate Source of Income for them

The project has so far in a period of 7 months has contacted 60% of the targeted population and has a regular contact with > 80%. Around 65% of those contacted have made a regular visit to the STI clinic. Out of those tested for ICTC ( 74  ) around 9% Have turned out to be positive for HIV.
